Dates of Mintage 1279-1307 Represented Worth: 4 pennies sterling
Extended Description
Replica Edward I groat cast from lead free pewter. A complimentary coin to the popular Edward I penny, this Groat coin is pictured in the attached photograph. This replica coin is 26mm side to side, and approximately 1mm thick. It is less thick than the Edward III Groat that I offer, and is probably closer to surviving specimens in dimension, if not weight (as Silver is heavier than Tin). It reads: EDWARDUS:DI:GRA:REX:ANGL:+ on the obverse and has a portrait of Edward I within a quatrefoil. It reads: EDVxAQVI:DNS:HYBD on the outer ring, and LON-DON-IAC-IVI on the interior ring, with the (by then) standard "long cross" and pellets.
